Costa Blanca is one of Spain’s most popular coastal areas with British visitors. It stretches for 100km (63miles) along the east coast, mainly in the Alicante province.
The northern part, known as the Marina Alta and Baja, has a dramatic backdrop of high mountains, such as the Montgo in Denia and Puig Campana in Finestrat. You will also discover some of the most impressive beaches in Spain along this coastline, ranging from large open white sandy beaches to beautiful hidden coves. Inland, green valleys contrast with the mountains, among which charming and Mediterranean picturesque villages emerge; including Tormos, Polop and others in the Jalon Valley with panoramic views of orange, lemon and almond groves.
The southern coast is largely flat plains behind long, sandy beaches. The main towns and villages include Altea, an attractive unspoilt village; Benitachell, a rural village; Calpe, with its famous Rock of Ifach, Denia, the capital of Marina Alta, with sandy beaches, spectacular rocky coves and colourful fiestas, Javea, a port known as the Pearls of the Costa Blanca and home to a huge expatriate community and Moraira, a luxurious tourist resort by the Mediterranean and Teulada.
The city of Alicante is the capital of the Costa Blanca and is a thriving and
cosmopolitan city with exceptional amenities.
The
Advantages of the area include a year-round pleasant climate, frequent flights to Alicante airport from Britain and attractive property prices. The area’s well-established expatriate community helps integration.
Lying in the south-eastern part of Andalucia, the Costa de Almeria (population 500,000) is a region of contrasts: busy tourist resorts and outstandingly beautiful, unspoilt land. Thanks to intensive horticulture, it is one of Spain’s wealthiest regions.
The area includes the national park of Cabo de Gata, a marine reserve with beautiful virgin beaches and rocky coves. Inland, the landscape is practically uninhabited.
Main towns include the modern city of Almeria; the holiday resorts of Aquadulce, Almerimar and Roquetas del Mar with marinas and holiday apartments; and Mojacar, an attractive white village perched in the mountains with a thriving summer resort on the coast.
The
Almerimar
Situated 40 kilometres east of Almería, in one of the least rainy parts
of Europe, the sun shines almost 300 days a year and the average temperature
is 27º in summer and 15º in winter. A few kilometres from the Sierra
Nevada, with long sandy beaches, it is a perfect place to live permanently or
to spend an unforgettable holiday.
How to get there: Almerimar is easily accessible from all parts of Spain via the E-15 motorway, with good connections between Madrid, Málaga, Granada, Murcia, Valencia and Barcelona.
Almería Airport, 52 kilometres away, greatly improves the connection between Almerimar and other parts of Spain and the rest of Europe.
Airports: Valencia | Barcelona | Castellon (15km - opens in 2007)
North of the Costa Blanca is the Costa de Azahar, literally translated it is the ‘Orange blossom’ Coast. It runs from Benicassim in the north to Chilches in the south, with the city of Castellon in the centre. The towns and countryside are all livened up by the colour and the perfume of the thousands of orange groves that famously cover the area.
Costa de Azahar provides a perfect combination of basic services with complementary attractions, fully-restored monuments and modern facilities.
Enjoy its sports marinas and its 22 beautiful sandy beaches flying European Blue Flags. Fine golf courses and a magnificent sunny climate allow you to play 365 days a year while you enjoy the panoramic views. Inland, discover the exceptional beauty of the small villages nestling in the valleys of the rugged mountains of Castellon, the second most mountainous province in Spain. Mountain climbing, horse riding, hiking routes are just some of the countless possibilities for enjoying the countryside in this area.
Main towns in the area are Oropesa, a large town with a beach resort; Vinaros, the historic Benicarlo; the beautiful town of Peniscola, famous for its perfectly preserved medieval centre perched on a rock over the sea; and Benicassim, the largest resort in the northern part of the coast.
This area is popular with Germans and Spanish visitors and Britons are becoming increasingly interested in the area as the property market here is buoyant.
Torreblanca, a modern town of almost 5,000 inhabitants, is situated 36 km to the north of Castellón. It enjoys a very pleasant climate, even in winter, as the coastal mountain range that runs through it stops the penetration of cold winds.
Torrenostra, accessible via a straight road, is an old fishing village with an excellent beach. It is currently being expanded and developed as a tourist and summer holiday resort. It has a beach with fine sand, clean and clear waters and offers all the necessary services and facilities.
We have various properties for-sale in these coastal regions.
